Bringing 6 Years of Classroom Teaching Experience to You
I earned my degree from Hope College in Holland, MI, focusing on Special Education Learning Disabilities and Mathematics Education. With an active teaching certification for 6th - 12th grade mathematics and certification in K-12th grade special education learning disabilities, I bring a strong educational background to tutoring.
My teaching journey began as a high school math teacher at a project-based learning school in Niles, MI. Over four years, I covered a wide range of subjects, from Algebra to Calculus, including teaching math inclusion for Algebra 2. Later, I returned to my hometown to teach Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2 STEM at West Ottawa High School.
Though I briefly transitioned to the insurance industry, I realized my passion still lies in supporting students with math. I missed those "ah-ha" moments when everything clicked for students. I missed watching students apply learned concepts and the creative challenge of explaining complex problems and formulas in engaging ways.
I love small group and one-on-one settings, where I can help students make connections and develop critical thinking skills for their future success.
Now, I'm excited to offer tutoring services covering Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Calculus, and more. If you have any questions or want to learn more about how I can support your student, please don't hesitate to reach out via email, phone, or my contact page!
